Surface Finishing

A clear coating is dispensed onto the finished label and self-levels into a smooth, glossy dome — adding depth, gloss, colour protection, and scratch and water resistance in one step. This finish is commonly called "resin coating" in Thailand because most workshops use epoxy resin — it's cheaper but tends to yellow and become brittle over time. At Cityart, we use polyurethane (PU) instead, which costs more but stays clear and flexible far longer. We apply it in-house, controlling the thickness and dome shape to match your design.

Foil adds a bright metallic surface to your piece. We print adhesive onto the material in the pattern you want, then press foil over it — so only the areas you choose turn into a metallic gold or silver finish. Beyond gold and silver, rose gold and copper are also available. Ideal for logos, lettering, or details you want to stand out and look premium.

We apply varnish over the surface to control whether it looks glossy or matte — gloss makes colours vivid and adds dimension, while matte gives a refined, low-reflection look.

We can also apply it as a spot varnish, raising the gloss and adding a raised feel to selected areas such as a logo, lettering, or an image — making those parts stand out to both the eye and the touch.

Varnish also adds a protective layer over the print, and can be combined with any of our other printing methods.
